CELEBRATE
WINNING ART FROM TREXLER PTA’S ANNUAL ‘REFLECTIONS’ ART PROGRAM
The
theme of this year’s annual “Reflections” national art program
was “I Can Make a Difference.” Students submitted pieces in the
categories of visual arts, musical composition, literature,
photography, film/video production, and dance choreography.
Winning students performed their pieces live at Trexler Middle
School as part of the Reflections Showcase hosted by the
school’s PTA. The Showcase also featured recitations of
students’ original poetry and prose, along with a slideshow of
photography and visual art entries.
The following Trexler Middle
School students made it to the state level of the competition,
placing in the top 150 of over 700,000 entries submitted
state-wide:
-
Maris Altieri (7th
grade) earned 3rd place in Musical Composition
with her original piano piece entitled “Reigning Sunshine.”
-
Gillian Gipson (8th
grade) was awarded 1st place in the same category
with her original ballad entitled “Just a Smile.” Gillian’s
piece will move on for judging on the national level. This
is the first entry from Trexler Middle School to reach
nationals.
