(PDF). Philosophy William Allen High School functions as an integral part of the local, state, national, and international communities. In providing for the needs of a pluralistic society, our school recognizes a need to foster a sense of mutual appreciation, respect, understanding, and cooperation among its staff, students, and community. The responsibilities of the local community and school are mutual. As the local community provides support for education, the school provides instruction and guidance necessary for community and individual needs. The responsibilities of our school are the following: to develop the skills necessary for critical thinking and problem solving; to reinforce positive communications skills; to promote understanding and application of modern technology; to promote environmental responsibility; to offer opportunities to express creative talent; to promote development of wholesome character and a concern for an individual's physical and mental well-being; to recognize and appreciate America's cultural heritage; to promote positive interpersonal relationships among individuals; to foster respect for self, the family, and the community; and to encourage a worthwhile use of leisure time. To fulfill these responsibilities, the staff and administration of William Allen High School are committed to a comprehensive program of instruction to ensure that all youth have an opportunity commensurate with their abilities to achieve their career objectives and satisfy their interests. This educational program demands flexible curricula, continued development and planning, periodic reviews, and modification of offerings to meet the needs of a changing society. |
