For electives that have limited enrollment, priority will be given to upper classmen who need the course to meet graduation, academy or pathway requirements.

KEYBOARDING
5 Periods ½ Year 0.5 Unit Grade 9, 10, 11, 12

Keyboarding for Personal Use is beneficial for all students. Basic techniques and skills are stressed. Besides learning the keyboard, the student learns the fundamentals of formatting personal business letters, memos, outlines, research papers, references, and tables.

COMPUTER APPLICATION FOR CAREER PLANNING
5 Periods ½ Year 0.5 Unit Grade 9

Computer Application for Career Planning focuses on computer use and applications including word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation software, and telecommunications. Students will learn how to use computer applications to explore future careers.

CREATING COMPUTER PRESENTATIONS
Prerequisite: Computer Application for Career Planning 5 Periods ½ Year 0.5 Unit Grade 10, 11, 12

Creating Computer Presentations focuses on the use of PowerPoint, a presentation graphics application. Students will learn to prepare computer presentations for future use in school-related and work-related projects including their required Graduation Project. These presentations will include the use of color schemes, backgrounds, clip art, organization charts, tables, sound, and formatted text. This course will be extremely useful to students who are preparing oral presentations for their graduation projects.

INTERNET APPLICATIONS
Prerequisite: Computer Application for Career Planning 5 Periods ½ Year 0.5 Unit Grade 10, 11, 12

Internet Applications guides students each step of the way in their exploration of the Internet. Students will become comfortable with how to access information on the Internet, thus being better prepared for the twenty-first century. Their journey will provide educational experiences; challenges and excitement; and new knowledge and technical skills for success at school, at work and at home.

WEB PAGE DESIGN / DESKTOP PUBLISHING
Prerequisite: Computer Application for Career Planning 5 Periods ½ Year 0.5 Unit Grade 10, 11, 12

Web Page Design / Desktop Publishing focuses on creating web pages that are attractive, communicate the appropriate message and capture an audience. It also includes critical analysis of web page organization, design and functionality. It is made up of a series of short, instructional lessons, designed to help students understand basic information that is needed to get the most out of their computer hardware and software. This course also focuses on the development of desktop publishing skills. Activities include working with multiple-column documents, graphics, word art, text boxes, mail merge, watermarks, templates, auto text, style and macros.

ACCOUNTING I
5 Periods 1 Year 1.0 Unit Grade 10, 11, 12

Accounting covers the basic accounting principles involved in the accounting cycle of various business organizations. Included is the analyzing, recording, and posting of business transactions for a service and merchandising business, also the basic fundamentals of payroll and financial statements.

ACCOUNTING II
Prerequisite: Accounting I 5 Periods 1 Year 1.0 Unit Grade 11, 12

The students are given the opportunity to apply basic principles of Accounting I to a variety of accounting systems and methods found in business. Included, also, is information dealing with corporation, departmental accounting, and plant assets. Accounting II provides a good foundation for students who plan to continue the study of accounting on the college level; it also provides the technical competency necessary to gain employment.

WORD PROCESSING I
Prerequisite: ½ Year Keyboarding 5 Periods ½ Year 0.5 Unit Grade 11, 12

Word Processing I is an extension of computer literacy and will provide students with a working knowledge of word processing. The hands-on experience will take the student from basic word processing skills to more advanced features using practical applications on the computer.
