Can I Have Your ATTENTION PLEASE!!

The William Allen Dance Academy’s spring concert, “Attention Please!” opened on Friday, March 7, and was preformed twice on Saturday, March 8. The concert focused on attention-grabbing dances which included both abstract, interpretive dances and more recognizable, high-energy, hip-hop based routines. One segment even featured William Allen Alumni dancers from 1997 through 2007; this added a very sentimental aspect to the show. Two current Allen teachers, Ms. Lewis and Ms. Witkowski, were also involved in the piece. The perennial favorite, however, is the concert’s finale, when the senior dancers are able to perform with Ms. Lorenzetti for one last time. This is always an emotional experience for both the dancers and the audience. This year, with the Chorale singing “Everything to Me,” was no exception. There were also a few new things added to the show this year, like the piece called, “Imagine,” which was done with flashing lights. In another segment, Andrew Faust, an Allen Alumnus, preformed a piano accompaniment as students danced. Other notable performances include Ms. Schubert’s duet with her former student, Ms. Witkowski, and the Allegro Dance Team’s piece, entitled “Haunted.”

There were also many other people that worked hard to make this show such a success, including the administrative and custodial workers; Mr. Sechler, Mr. Brady, and the theatre and Chorale members; and the sound and lighting crews. Additionally, the twenty-four senior dancers should be very proud of the countless hours that they dedicated to the advancement of their art. All in all, everyone’s hard work made the William Allen Dance Academy’s concert, “Attention Please!” a huge success.
