Counselor Responsibilities

The role of the counselor includes many responsibilities which include but are not limited to:

· Student advisement

· Group and individual counseling

· Consultation with staff, parents and community regarding student needs

· Assistance with postsecondary planning, career planning and awareness

· Response to crisis situations/ liaison between school and community

· Participation in SAP and ninth and tenth grade teams

· Facilitation of referrals to outside agencies

· Interpretation of standardized test scores

· Maintenance of pupil records

· Resource for students and parents regarding careers, college, and financial aid

· Participation in district planning, curriculum development and program implementation.
