Dieruff and William Allen Theatre Companies teamed up to address bullying – what to do about it, who to tell, and why we need heroes to stand up and stop bullying before it starts.
The student actors are using drama that is real-life and relatable in their performances for ASD elementary and middle school audiences. The high school students have written and directed the original material they are performing, and provide an opportunity for talk-back after each show. These original skits are engaging and incorporate the use of puppetry, rap lyric narrative, and striking statistics about bullying in our nation's schools.
In October – National Bullying Prevention Month – students at Ramos Elementary, Trexler, Raub and South Mountain Middle Schools were treated to the interactive performances.
These theatre students and their respective directors – Sarah Pastelyak, Dieruff, and John Sechler, William Allen, hope to continue to take their show to more schools.
This has truly been a high school collaborative effort.
