Food allergies are present in 1 in 13 children in the U.S. according to FARE (Food Allergy Research and Education). A food allergy occurs when the body has an adverse reaction to a specific food. Reactions can be mild to severe and life-threatening (anaphylaxis).
It is critical that parents and guardians alert the school nurse of any food allergies or other allergic conditions of your child.
