Welcome to the William Allen High School Counseling Department. Our mission, in accordance with the American School Counselor Association’s National Standards, promotes and enhances student learning through the three broad and interrelated areas of student development: academic development, career development, and personal/social development.

School Counselor Responsibilities
The role of the counselor includes many responsibilities which include but are not limited to:
  • Student advisement
  • Group and individual counseling
  • Consultation with staff, parents and community regarding student needs
  • Assistance with postsecondary planning, career planning and awareness
  • Response to crisis situations/ liaison between school and community
  • Participation in SAP and ninth and tenth grade teams
  • Facilitation of referrals to outside agencies
  • Interpretation of standardized test scores
  • Maintenance of pupil records
  • Resource for students and parents regarding careers, college, and financial aid
  • Participation in district planning, curriculum development and program implementation
