Summer Camp Scholarship Opportunities

ASD students can apply for Summer Camp Scholarships through the Allentown School District Foundation. Summer Camp applications must be submitted by February 22, 2017.

Summer Camps Available include:

The Baum School of Art

Take advantage of two summer camp scholarships for any course offered at Baum (two week intensive camps or a weekly course) and two scholarships to the Fashion Academy. Fashion Academy courses include pattern making, fashion design and sewing. Scholarship recipients may select courses with a focus on drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic design, photography, jewelry design and mixed media. City Arts Camp

For students grades 5 and 6 ONLY
Do you enjoy the arts, have boundless enthusiasm and have a sense of creative adventure? If so, City Arts Camp is the place for you - a collaboration of 6 arts and cultural organizations in Allentown - Allentown Art Museum, Baurn School of Art, Civic Theatre, Community Music School, Miller Symphony Hall, and Repertory Dance Theatre. Learn about art, music, dance. and theatre from masters in their field. Camp is full day; June 26 - 30, 2017.
 

Civic Theatre School

Civic Theatre School (CTS) provides young people with an exciting program in drama and movement. In addition to learning the theatre arts, CTS students develop discipline, teamwork and self-confidence. Talented, experienced educators with performance backgrounds create a comfortable environment where students can develop the skills they will use onstage and in life. Students applying for Civic Theatre School must be available to attend session 1 or 2. 
 

Xcape Dance

Xcope Dance Studio, part of YEA (Youth Education in the Arts) offers comprehensive dance to students aged 6 - 22 in a fun and nurturing environment. Each summer, Xcape offers a six-week program that includes classes in Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary/Modern, Jumps, Turns and Leaps, and Stretch and Strengthening. Community Music School

Community Music School is dedicated to providing high quality, accessible music instruction for community residents and is donating two summer session scholarships for private instrumental, voice or choir instruction. Lesson day and time can be arranged lo fit individual schedules. Summer session starts in June and ends in August. DaVinci Science Center

For students grades 5-8 ONLY
The DaVinci Science Center (DSC) has been providing science opportunities for students since 1992.  DSC campers explore many of the amazing things the world offers them - including their favorite superheroes, captivating wizardry, colorful creatures, mesmerizing magic and their amazing human bodies. Week-long summer camp scholarships are available for students entering grade 5 through grade 8.  For more information about summer camps and a complete course listing, visiwww.davincisciencecenter.org.

WLEV/WCTO Radio Camp

For students in grades 9-12 ONLY
Two lucky high school students will work in a radio station for a week. WLEV-FM 100.7 and WCTO-FM CAT COUNTRY 96 are providing one-week internships where students will receive hands on experience and an up close look at how a radio station works. Camp lasts from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., July 10 - July 14. Station is located on Avenue C in Bethlehem.

Wildlands Conservancy Camp

For students grades 5-8 ONLY
At the Wildlands Conservancy, full day summer camp, you can explore the creek, hone outdoor skills, log data on bird populations, make nature-inspired creations and more! Experience the wonder of the great outdoors while learning about the importance of local conservation. For information on camps: www .wildlandspa.org.

Penn State Lehigh Valley

For students grades 7 and 8 ONLY
Penn State Lehigh Valley offers a wide variety of summer programs for students. Each camp is designed and taught by Penn State Lehigh Valley faculty and/or Lehigh Valley Writing Project Fellows. The scholarship is for a full day week long camp during the week of July 10-14, 2017. For more information on offerings emailsycroor@psu.edu

Allentown Municipal Golf Course

Allentown Municipal Golf Course (3400 Tilghman Street) is offering a free junior membership to one Allentown School District student. The membership includes unlimited use of the golf course for one year. The Allentown Municipal Golf Course is an 18-hole championship golf course with greens to challenge golfers at all levels. Oakmont Tennis Club

Oakmont Tennis Club, located at 21st and Allen Street, is offering an Allentown student a junior membership for the 2017 season that includes complimentary enrollment in the six-week Junior Tennis Camp. The Junior Membership allows unlimited access to any of Oakmont's seven clay courts throughout the 2017 season.  The Junior Tennis Camp is a six week, hour and a half program that runs Monday to Thursday starting in late June. In addition, Oakmont is encouraging the scholarship winner to identify and recruit up to 4 "Friends" to participate in the two week or six-week Junior Tennis Camp at half price.  For more information visit www.Oakmonttennis.com.

Rodale Aquatics Center Lifeguard Certification Course

For students ages 15 and up ONLY
Enroll in a full life guarding course in which strong swimmers ages 15 and up receive CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard training certification upon successfully completing the full course. You must attend and fully participate in every class. Classes are in May to prepare for the summer season.

Allentown YMCA Summer Camp OR Family Membership

Summer Camp for students grades 5 and 6 ONLY
The Allentown YMCA Summer Camp provides students opportunities to explore nature, develop new talents, gain independence and make friendships and memories that last a lifetime. The camps promote youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The camp lasts 6 weeks OR the one-year Family Membership provides families access to an exciting and welcoming atmosphere where everyone can successfully achieve their personal aspirations. The student and their family will have access to all amenities of the facility which include the fitness center, fitness classes, youth classes, heated salt water pool, free weight room, indoor track, basketball courts, child watch services and more.
