Title I ASD Parent University and Parent Advisory Council Meeting are huge success
It was a great gathering of approximately 100 ASD parents, guardians, students, families, staff, and community members at the ASD Spring Parent University Workshops and Title 1 Advisory Council Meeting on Saturday, January 21. The 4-hour Free event took place at Building 21 Allentown High School.
Participants attended a selection of workshops that focused on topics that help support their child’s academic success. Spring session topics offered will include:
- Attendance Policy
- Keeping it Kind, An Overview of the Olweus Anti-Bullying Programming
- College Readiness-PHEAA
- Health Overview-Dental Health
- Keystones & PSSA’s
- Suicide Prevention Education for Parents
- Understanding the IEP/GIEP
- Title 1 Annual Parent Meeting & Tutoring
- English Language Learners (ELL/ESOL)
Participants and presenters enjoyed breakfast and lunch, spent time getting information about ASD resources, programs and community resources, and walked away with goodie bags. Childcare was provided for children ages 3 to 10 years old allowing parents and guardians the time to fully participate in workshops and discussions.
Community Agencies who participated included Capital Blue, Lehigh Valley Hospital Network, PA Migrant Education, ASD-GEAR UP 3, Penn State Lehigh Valley, 21st CCLC After School Tutoring, ASD Dental Hygienists, KidsPeace and Neighborhood Health Centers of the Lehigh Valley.
