The District has the opportunity to address specific needs by providing programs and resources to increase the academic performance of all students. Funds support the following 4 of the ABG categories: Full-Day Kindergarten, Math and Literacy Coaching, Social and Emotional Wellness and School Safety Programs, and Academic Performance of Student Subgroups (including co-teaching in special education classrooms and 2 ESL facilitators).

Funds will be targeted towards increasing the academic performance of all students. The Allentown School District offers students multiple opportunities to meet academic standards. As part of the District’s ongoing effort to develop a comprehensive tutoring program, Educational Assistance Program funding is used to support students who are not currently being served. Tutoring is aligned with Allentown School District standards, programs and instructional approaches. Providing tutoring during the day in our middle schools and high schools helps to increase attendance and include a larger number of eligible students. Tutoring takes place during an additional class period for students who scored below proficient in reading on the PSSA.
