Superintendent's Message: HMMS Threat

May 24, 2019

The Allentown School District remains committed to transparency and increasing communication with our families and community.

The District takes the safety of all students very seriously. This morning we received a report that a Harrison Morton Middle School student was in possession of a weapon. The student was immediately identified, searched and the appropriate authorities were contacted.

The Allentown Police Department and school administration followed all appropriate protocols and at no time were staff or students in any danger. The student has been removed from the school and is in custody of APD.

We would like to thank and acknowledge the swift and efficient actions of the school staff and the Allentown Police Department. We are especially proud of our ASD students who follow safety protocols, report suspicious activity and are committed to helping create safe school environments for our entire community.

We are deeply committed to communicating accurate and timely information to our ASD families and will continue to do so.
