Allentown School District Adjusts Administrative Personnel to Start the School Year

Each year we find ourselves with the opportunity to recalibrate leadership as outlined as a goal in our Strategic Framework. In order to best meet the needs of all students, the School Board of Directors continues to prioritize the development and advancement of educational leaders from within.

Valuing employees is a pledge set forth in the ASD Strategic Framework. This means that individuals with strong skill sets, and a willingness to serve the ASD community will always have an opportunity to assume key leadership positions throughout the District. Recently, a diverse group of internal leaders have been selected to lead our ASD elementary and middle schools.

We would like to congratulate the following building level administrators who will move into new roles in ASD this fall:
Jose Delgado - Principal, Raub Middle School
Bob Morrow Jr. - Principal, Trexler Middle School
Daria Custer - Principal, Jefferson Elementary School
Ferdinand Surita Jr. - Assistant Principal, South Mountain Middle School
Kate Mercado - Assistant Principal, Union Terrace Elementary School
Juliet Saba - Assistant Principal, Brigadier General Anna Mae Hays Elementary School

Within our Central Administration, dynamic leaders with experience at the building and departmental levels have been tapped to assume critical roles within the current organizational structure. The following leaders represent the District’s emphasis on improving all schools with an intentional focus on reducing achievement gaps, transforming our middle schools, and targeting our vulnerable subgroups. These leaders are listed below:
Dr. Lucretia N. Brown - Deputy Superintendent of Equity, Accountability and School Improvement
Brandy Sawyer - Executive Director of Secondary Education & Alternative Education
Will Seng - Executive Director of Middle School Transformation & Virtual Learning
Melissa Smith - Executive Director of School Improvement & Compliance
Brian Siket - Executive Director of Special Education

Collectively, the new leadership at both the building and district levels, will support the School Board of Director’s commitment to the Strategic Framework, and a broader commitment to the staff and families within the Allentown School District community.

Ms. Custer, Ms. Saba, Mr. Seng, and Ms. Smith are all graduates of the Allentown School District.
