ASD to Continue Remote Learning through Q2

Greetings ASD Community,

Tonight, the Allentown School District Board of Directors voted to continue with remote learning through the ASD Virtual Campus. The decision will extend through the end of the second quarter, February 1, 2021.

While we know this may not be the news you wanted to hear at this point in time, the health and safety of our entire community remains a top priority for our administration and our school board. COVID cases are once again on the rise in Lehigh County, and here in Allentown. Please know that we are taking this action to protect our students, staff, and families. We hope to be able to return to some type of in-person instructional model in the near future.

As an immediate next step, the district will explore the opportunity for students from specific subgroups to participate in an earlier re-entry date, not yet determined.  We will also continue ongoing communication with our students and families as a priority during these uncertain times.

For further updates on our district’s reopening plan please visit our website at and click Opening of Schools. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or district staff by using the Let’s Talk button on our website.

As I close, let me reiterate that the health and safety of our staff, students, and families is the highest priority at this time. With that said, I thank each every community member for support and feedback as we make these difficult decisions during these unprecedented times.

Thank you,

Superintendent Thomas Parker
