On Thursday, February 18, Dr. Lucretia Brown, will advocate on behalf of the Allentown School District staff, students, families, and the broader community by joining the House Democratic Policy Committee hearing. Hosted by State Rep. Mike Schlossberg, the virtual hearing will discuss proposed House Bill 2317 (The Grow Your Own Educators Act) aimed at reducing educator shortages across the state. Specifically, this bill will support the development of a pipeline into education for paraprofessionals, parents, and students.
Dr. Brown's testimony, in support of this bill, will address how pipeline programs like these are an essential component of comprehensive equity strategies. Not only do grow your own programs aim to improve diversity and equity within the workforce, these programs also build community.
We invite our staff, families and community members to tune in to learn more bout how this kind of legislative action and advocacy could benefit ASD!
