PA State Budget Supports Allentown School District

Letterhead

Allentown School District Community,

Today marks a great day for the Allentown School District!  As many of you know, the district faced a tough battle to alleviate the financial deficit we identified during the 2017-18 school year.  We have been informed that the state budget will include $10 Million to support the Allentown School District.

Our highest appreciation to Senator Pat Browne for leading this effort on behalf of the children of Allentown.  Thanks to the impressive dedication and tireless efforts of State Senator Pat Browne and State Representatives Michael Schlossberg and Peter Schweyer, the Allentown School District has not only avoided crippling staff reductions, but we are able to move forward with the implementation of our strategic framework and create dynamic outcomes for our children.  We are thankful for and proud of our state leadership.

Together, the district and its state stakeholders have led efforts to support the future of Allentown’s children.  The resources designated to the district demonstrate an understanding of the generational impact that a quality education can have on a child and their family. Without this critical support from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, we would not be able to ensure quality outcomes for our students.  This financial support will allow us to continue to create opportunity and access to the American dream for our children.

We graciously thank Secretary of Education Pedro Rivera and his team at the Pennsylvania Department of Education.  As we shared our concerns, the PDE leadership instantly responded by providing technical assistance and support for the district.

Many thanks to our Allentown School District Board of Directors who, throughout this budget process, ensured that a high-quality education of our children remained our top priority.  Lastly, I want to acknowledge the tireless efforts of the staff of the Allentown School District.   We have worked hard to ensure we are #COMMITTEDTOEXCELLENCE.  This represents sustainability for 18/19 school year.  We know that we have a lot of work to do to ensure success in the future.  I am excited to be a part of this journey.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Parker
