Allentown School District Approves New Communication Platform To Encourage Stronger School-Home Connection
Allentown, PA – April 24, 2025– At its Regular Board Meeting held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, the Allentown School District School Board of Directors approved a contract with ParentSquare, which will streamline communications and create a single hub for families to receive all communications from the district, schools, classrooms and school activity groups in one unified app and service.
“Currently, our schools are utilizing a combination of more than half a dozen paid and free applications to communicate with families,” said Superintendent Dr. Carol D. Birks. “The Allentown School District recognizes that student success is a shared endeavor, and we want to engage every parent and/or guardian, helping ensure all families have the opportunity to actively participate in their children’s education. We are looking forward to reaching 100% of our families, no matter where they are, and empowering them to create a collaborative partnership with their child’s teachers & school at every grade level.
Last year, when developing its Strategic Plan, the District made a commitment to strategically investing in a two-way Pre-Kindergarten to 12 communication platform for families in order to increase regular communication with students and families. This platform will systematize translation and interpretation requests to provide real-time support to multilingual stakeholders in their preferred language.
By unifying multiple tools into one communications app and service, ParentSquare provides a seamless experience for families, staff, and even students. Families will be able to keep track of news, activities, and events from all their children’s schools in one place. Unifying our communication platforms will empower the District to operate more efficiently and communicate more effectively at every level.
The District intends to launch ParentSquare with families who attend Summer Programming and can be easily accessed on computers, tablets, or mobile devices.
With ParentSquare’s user-friendly, two-way platform, the Allentown School District strengthens its commitment to clear communication and active family engagement. With ParentSquare, families can receive emergency alerts from the District, but also enjoy photos posted by teachers, fill out forms or permission slips, sign up for parent-teacher conferences, check grades and attendance, and more. School staff can engage in both one-to-one and group messaging with real-time language translation. Using the StudentSquare feature, the District can create a communication and workflow center between educators and secondary students built with stringent safety and security practices, which can be used for teams & clubs.
The Allentown School District’s partnership with ParentSquare will enable stronger engagement between school and home, and help empower everyone within the school community to stay connected and informed.
