ALLENTOWN, PA — At its regular meeting on Thursday, October 24, 2024, the Allentown School District Board of Directors approved the appointments of three new administrators for the 2024-2025 school year.
Dr. Robert Whartenby has been named the Chief Operations Officer, Carlos Reyes will be the new Director of Investigative Services and Labor Relations, and Monique Davis will be the PIMS Administrator.
“We are thrilled to welcome these talented and highly experienced professionals to the Allentown School District,” said Dr. Carol D. Birks, Superintendent/Chief Executive Officer. “Each of these new team members will help us continue to improve our operational excellence for the benefit of our students and staff. Please join me in welcoming these three employees to our District.”
Dr. Whartenby brings extensive experience in operations, construction, and facilities management to the position. He currently serves as the interim Supervisor of Safety and Security for the Bucks County Intermediate Unit #22.
Whartenby has experience in both private business and public education, having worked as a facilities manager, director of operations, and project manager in Pennsylvania school districts. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master of City and Regional Planning Degree from Rutgers University, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from LaSalle University, and a Doctorate in Education from Delaware Valley University.
Reyes currently serves as the Director of Recruitment for the Newark Board of Education. With nearly two decades of experience in education, Reyes began his career as a teaching assistant at Rand Elementary School in Montclair, New Jersey. He went on to spend eight years as an elementary school teacher before being promoted to Vice Principal and eventually Principal. Reyes holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Montclair State University.
Davis currently serves as the Institutional Registrar at Moravian University, a position she has held for eight years. She brings extensive experience to the position, having worked in university registrar's offices for more than 20 years. Davis holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Health Education from Arcadia University.
