Proper Use, Storage, and Expectations Guidelines
- Refer to policy 815-Acceptable Use of Internet, Computers and Network Resources.
- The school-issued computer and charger are valuable resources entrusted to students for educational use only.
- Students are responsible for the proper care, safekeeping, and protection of the equipment from damage, loss, or theft.
- Parents/guardians are responsible for the supervision and appropriate use and care of these devices. We strongly encourage parents to retain physical possession of the devices when not in use for schoolwork.
- Any damages, loss, or theft must be reported to school administration within 24 hours of the incident.
- Students should store the school-issued computer and charger in a safe and secure location when not in use.
- Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, moisture, or any conditions that may cause damage.
- Students should charge their device at home and bring only the fully-charged school-issued computer to and from school daily, not the charger.
- To prevent overheating and/or damage, do not leave the device plugged in and unattended for extended periods.
- The school-issued equipment is to be used solely for school-related, educational purposes in accordance with the school's policies and guidelines. Use for any other purpose is strictly prohibited.
- Accessing inappropriate content, engaging in cyberbullying, or violating any local, state, or federal laws using the school's device is strictly prohibited.
- Accessing unauthorized websites, streaming non-educational content, or engaging in activities that may compromise network security is strictly prohibited.

- If the device is not working properly, please contact the school’s IT department or school administration.
- Parents/guardians should notify the school in case of theft, loss, or damage to the devices. A lost or stolen device must also be reported to the Allentown Police Department, and parents/guardians must give the reference number provided by the police to the school’s IT department or school administrator.
- All damages to the device must be reported to the school’s IT department. Depending on the severity of the damage, a service charge may be applied for replacement of the device. Information regarding potential charges will be provided at the time of assessment.
- If the device is not working properly, please contact the school’s IT department or school administration.
- It is important to understand that the school retains the right to monitor, access, or review any information stored or transmitted through the school's technology resources. Students do not have any expectation of privacy in connection with their use of the devices.
- At the end of the academic year or upon withdrawal from the school, students are required to return all school-issued devices in the same condition in which they were issued.
- The school reserves the right to inspect the devices for damages and ensure all software and data have been appropriately removed.
Parent/Student Meetings and Educational Resources
- At the start of the school year, informational meetings regarding device responsibility will be held. Attendance at one of these meetings is strongly encouraged. Dates and times for these meetings will be communicated separately.
- Additionally, parent(s)/guardian(s) and students are strongly encouraged to watch the following videos on the proper use and care of the school district devices.
