ASD Students Soar in 2019 National History Day Regionals
Posted on 04/08/2019

This March, the regional National History Day competition was held at Muhlenberg College where twenty students represented ASD schools with fifteen competing projects.

These projects require extensive research and a high level of task commitment to complete. The theme of this year’s competition was Triumph and Tragedy in history. Students are invited to display their projects in June at the annual ASD Showcase of Academic Excellence which will be held at the PPL Center on May 29, 2019.

The following students qualified for the Pennsylvania state National History Day contest, which will be held in Carlisle, PA on May 10 & 11.

• Sarah Schweyer is a grade 6 student at SMMS, and her entry “Lessons from the Challenger” won 1st place in the individual webpage category.
• Madeline Fink is a grade 9 student at WAHS, and her entry “The Night Witches:  The Triumph of Women After the Tragedy of Men” won 1st place in the individual performance category.

Congratulations to all participants who represented ASD with dignity and excellence!
